We are sure you will be aware the Covid rules have been being updated in the UK and in France where you are due to travel in the next few weeks. We are communicating with clients in departure date order and we have some large early season groups due to depart this week, so we apologise if you had been expecting an earlier email from us regarding the changes.
We appreciate that the situation is changing daily so we are advising a cautiously optimistic approach towards December travel. This email is particularly for those travelling with children aged 12-18 years.
Please click on the link for the updated FCDO advice for travelling to France. Please note that there is an element of risk to travelling and requirements can change very quickly.
For children aged between 12-18 years that have received 1 dose of the vaccine in the UK, the new requirement is that in order to have a “pass sanitaire”, you will need a negative PCR or antigen test that is less than 24 hours old. The UK is now going to be offering 2nd vaccination doses to children aged 12-17 years. 18-39 year olds will also be offered a booster jab.
How to obtain a ”pass sanitaire” in France which is necessary to use the ski lifts:
Children aged between 12-18 years that have received 1 dose of the vaccine in the UK currently need a negative PCR or antigen test that is less than 24 hours old. However the UK is now going to be offering 2nd vaccination doses to children aged 12-17 years (and boosters for 18-39 year olds). We await confirmation of timings regarding the 2nd dose for children. In the meantime we recommend you book daily tests and we are collating information from the resorts on their testing services. Please contact us for resort specific testing centre information.
Can I fly to Geneva and transit to France?
Yes, the FCDO website was updated on Monday to confirm that those travelling onward to another country need not to quarantine, as long as travel through Switzerland is less than 24 hours and does not involve a stopover.
Can I cancel my holiday?
The FCDO has not changed it’s advice against travelling to France. We are therefore still able to provide your holiday and if you are travelling within the next 6 weeks, our normal booking T&Cs will apply.
Can I defer to W22/23?
We regret that we are not currently in a position to defer holidays to W22/23 as at this point we are contractually bound to pay our partners in France for your accommodation.
I am travelling on Boxing Day - where can we get a COVID test on Christmas day?
Cignpost’s testing centres at London Gatwick and London Heathrow airports are open on Christmas day. You can get antigen tests at the airport on the day of travel, results are available in 30 mins and the cost is approximately £40.
When you return to the UK:
You still need to book and pay for a day 2 test. Our testing partners Breathe Assured are waiting for an update to their IT system to reflect the new requirements. This update should be completed in the next few days. Alternatively, please see here a list of other UK approved providers.
We understand that there are concerns regarding the current situation and we will endeavour to update you if there are any other changes to the rules.
